Cooked tomato sauce boosts the levels of healthy bacteria in the gut, according to research. 

Spanish scientists found that tomatoes have a better probiotic effect in the gut when fried into a sauce, rather than when eaten raw. 

Although a healthy bacteria in the gut prevents some antioxidants being absorbed from tomato sauce, the sauce boosts the effectiveness of that same bacteria.

The researchers say this makes cooked tomato sauce better for gut health than raw tomatoes, because the cooking process preserves the important chemical which gives tomatoes their red colour.

David Edward Hughes (1831-1900)

16 maja 1831 roku urodził się wynalazca David Edward Hughes. Zawdzięczamy mu wynalezienie mikrofonu i telgrafu. 
David Hughes made his fortune by inventing the Type Printing Telegraph and the first microphone. His trademarks were simple components and clear thinking.
Hughes' first invention was the Type Printing Telegraph, which was soon used everywhere by the Western Union Telegraph Company, USA. Hughes became famous throughout Europe. Fortune made, he went back to London to live a quiet life.However, it wasn't long before his inventive streak struck again, this time to invent the microphone. He showed the new device to an audience of distinguished scifiles in London. David could have made a huge fortune if he'd patented the device, because he had a clear vision of its potential. But he chose, instead, to give it to the new world of telecommunications.
His microphone and other inventions are kept at the Science Museum in London. When he died, he left £400,000 (a huge sum in those days) to five hospitals in London and a bequest to the Royal Society.

12 tons of chocolate spills on the road.

A lorry has overturned on a Polish motorway and splashed tons of liquid chocolate that is now solidifying all over the road.

The private broadcaster TVN24 showed images of an overturned truck surrounded by brown chocolate covering six lanes on the A2 motorway, blocking traffic in both directions.

Rescue officials said the liquid chocolate was solidifying as it cooled and would require large amounts of hot water to clear away.

Senior brigadier Bogdan Kowalski, with the fire brigade of Slupca, a town in western Poland, said 'the cooling chocolate is worse than snow.'

Flag Day in Poland

Dziś obchodzimy w Dzień Flagi. Święto wprowadzono w 2004, ale nadal niewiele osób wywiesza flagi przed domem. Nie jesteśmy jedynym krajem, który obchodzi takie święto. Dni flagi narodowej mają też : Stany Zjednoczone, Kanada, Meksyk,Finlandia, Litwa, Ukraina i wiele innych. Oficjalnego święta flagi nie ma natomiast Szwecja ( w 1983 święto flagi zastapiono świętem narodowym) a flagi narodowe obecne są tam na codzień niemal przed każdym domem. Przykład godny naśladowania.
