The English hospitals need more Polish nurses.

Angielskie szpitale chcą zatrudnić więcej polskich pielęgniarek. Dlaczego akurat polskich? Aby zredukować koszty zatrudniania tłumaczy, którzy są niezbędni aby się porozumieć z licznymi polskimi pacjentami, którzy nie znaja angielskiego. Godzina pracy tłumacza  to 38 funtów, więc o wiele taniej będzie zatrudniać pielęgniarki, które będą w stanie pośredniczyć w rozmowie między lekarzem a pacjentem.
Obecnie w Wielkiej Brytanii pracuje 2 i pół tysiąca polskich pielęgniarek. W Polsce średni wiek pielęgniarki to prawie 50 lat. Strach myśleć co będzie dalej...

Hospitals are to hire Eastern European nurses because so many patients cannot speak English, making it hard for doctors to understand their health concerns.

For the first time, NHS trusts in immigration hotspots want to recruit staff from Poland to cope with the language barriers they face every day on their wards.

It is hoped the move will improve care for foreign-born patients, cut the Health Service’s £23 million annual bill for translation services, and reduce the lengthy consultation times clinicians must have with non-English speakers.
