Hungry and hangry.

HANGRY to jedno z tysiąca (!) nowych słów wpisanych w 2017 roku do Oxford English Dictionary.
Ten właśnie stan ducha spowodowany głodem, można teraz krótko i zwięźle, bez dodatkowych objaśnień, określić jednym słowem: HANGRY.
HUNGRY + ANGRY = HANGRY
Czy to nie genialne ? I jak tu nie kochać angielskiego ....

The cow that lives with bisons.

O dzielnej polskiej krowie z charakterem, która wybrała wolność, uciekła do lasu i dołączyła do stada żubrów w Puszczy Białowieskiej pisze nawet BBC.
A domesticated cow has surprised Polish naturalists by spending the winter living with a herd of wild bison in the primeval Bialowieza Forest.
The cow "chose freedom" by running away from a farm late last autumn, and has been seen lingering on the fringes of a herd of some 50 bison in the forest on the Belarusian border, Poland's TVN24 news portal reports.
Ornithologist Adam Zbyryt was the first to spot the cow. He made the news in November when he told TVN24: "it's not unusual to see bison near the Bialowieza Forest, but one animal caught my eye. It was a completely different light-brown shade from the rest of the herd. Bison are chestnut or dark brown".

Robert Burns (1759 - 1796).

25 stycznia 1759 urodził się największy szkocki poeta Robert Burns. Z tej
okazji w Szkocji i poza jej granicami miłośnicy jego poezji organizują tak zwane Burns night, Burns supper i Robert Burns Day

In Scotland (and now all over the world) admirers of Robert Burns celebrate his life and poems by having a Burns Supper on Burns Night. Burns Night is held on 25th January (the birthday of Robert Burns) and this is sometimes referred to as Robert Burns Day.
A Burns Supper, a meal to celebrate Robert Burns, can be formal occasions or more relaxed gatherings.

A traditional formal Burns Supper – like those held by Burns Clubs and Freemason groups – follow a set pattern and order. Read more: http://primaryfacts.com/586/burns-night-facts-about-a-burns-supper/

Poland's painted village - ZALIPIE

Japończycy (the Japanese Association of Travel Agents) opracowali listę 30 najpiękniejszych europejskich miast i miasteczek.

It was challenged to come up with 30 smaller destinations to promote to holidaymakers. This is what they came up with (and there's only one in Britain).

This village in southern Poland is best-known for its cottages decorated with intricate designs. The custom was reportedly begun by the women of the village more than a century ago.

World's longest underwater cave.

World's longest underwater cave discovered in Mexico: Divers reveal that two areas previously thought to be separate actually form one 216-mile-long connected maze of caverns

  •  The 216-mile long maze of caverns was discovered off the eastern coast of Mexico in the Yucatan Peninsula
  • It had previously been thought that two large caves were separate and not connected together in any way
  • But divers and scientists working in the region have now discovered that the two caverns are one large cave
  • It is believed that the discovery could help shed light on the ancient Maya civilisation who lived in the area

What to do with egg cartons.

Nazbierało mi się opakowań po jajkach. Co tu z nimi zrobić? Oczywiście
internet wie wszystko
i jest pełen pomysłów.
There are many ways to reuse your old egg cartons, but I wanted to focus on the projects that were simple and gave the cartons a chance at a second life before being recycled. Many of these ideas let you use egg cartons instead of buying something for the same purpose.
If you've ever saved an egg carton to reuse, it's probably been as a seed starter. No need to buy plastic seed starters or even the compostable ones, egg cartons are the perfect tool for the job.
I mean, how many egg cartons do I go through over the course of a year? I’m going to start stockpiling! It’s hard to come by a free craft supply that’s as versatile as this one. There are a lot of awesome projects you can do with your kids that involve egg cartons, but also some stunning beautiful artistic projects you can do yourself to spruce up your home.Let’s check it out.https://www.diyncrafts.com/16784/repurpose/35-impossibly-creative-projects-you-can-make-with-recycled-egg-cartons

Frequency of initial letters.

I have here of the headwords from the New Oxford Dictionary of English. The answer was indeed S, which was followed at some distance in decreasing order by P, C, D, M, and A. It’s notable that the frequency of initial letters bears no relation to how often letters occur in English in general, in which E is most common, followed by T and then A.

January in the garden.

"January is the quietest month in the garden.  ...  But just because it looks quiet doesn't mean that nothing is happening.  The soil, open to the sky, absorbs the pure rainfall while microorganisms convert tilled-under fodder into usable nutrients for the next crop of plants.  The feasting earthworms tunnel along, aerating the soil and preparing it to welcome the seeds and bare roots to come."
