Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017

Wczoraj obejrzałam finał dziecięcego konkursu piosenki Eurowizji. Nie jestem fanką tego widowiska, a telewizor włączyłam przez przypadek i niestety przegapiłam występ naszej reprezentantki.
Spośród wszystkich uczestników moją największą sympatię wzbudził chłopiec z Malty Gianluca Cilia - ładny głos, wdzięk i sympatyczna nieskomplikowana piosenka ( w końcu to konkurs dla dzieci). 
Okazuje się, że jak na dziesięciolatka Gianluca ma już spore osiągnięcia. Mam nadzieję, że jeszcze kiedyś o nim usłyszymy.

Gianluca Cilia (born 12 November 2007) is a Maltese child singer. He will represent Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Tbilisi, Georgia on 26 November 2017 with a song "Dawra tond", performed in both English and Maltese.

Gianluca started to sing at the age of 6, and he takes singing and music lessons at Harmonic Ensemble. His first participation in a major competition was in 2015, taking part in Oltroceano in Palermo, winning the festival. A year later he represented Malta in an international singing festival in Romania, placing third with his song Mamma lo canto per te. In that same year he also took part in the inaugural edition of Arpeggio, in Malta, achieving the first place. (wikipedia)

Na temat fryzury Roberta Lewandowskiego wypowiada się brytyjski tabloid The Sun. Nowy kolor włosów nie znalazł niestety uznania.

Eton students banned from using electronic devices at night.

Władze  Eton College zakazały swoim wychowankom używania urządzeń elektronicznych po godzinie 21.30. Powodem jest troska o dobry sen uczniów oraz zapobieganie uzależnieniu od mediów społecznościowych.
Eton College to jedna z najstarszych elitarnych  angielskich szkół dla chłopców (powstała w XV wieku).  Uczniowie zakwaterowani sa w internacie, a za rok nauki trzeba płacić ponad 38 tysięcy funtów.

Pupils at Eton College have been banned from using smartphones, laptops and tablets in their rooms after bedtime because of fears their addiction to social media is leaving them sleep-deprived.

The £38,700-a-year boarding school has told all 13-year-olds to hand over their electronic devices to their housemasters before they go to bed at 9.30 pm.

The measure was introduced by head master Simon Henderson, who said lost sleep could harm pupil’s ability to concentrate in lessons and, damage academic performance.

The Polish phrase " Jakoś to będzie"

Na stronie BBC znalazłam interesujący artykuł pod tytułem "The Polish phrase

that will help you through tough times" poświęcony naszemu powiedzeniu " Jakoś do będzie". Ciekawi jesteście jak to brzmi po angielsku?

Jeśli ktoś myśli, że angielskie słowo flag oznacza jedynie flagę, to bardzo się myli.
FLAG to także:

• kosaciec, tatarak, źdźbło, liść zboża;
• płyta chodnikowa, kamień brukowy, wykładać chodnik płytami kamiennymi
• lotka (u ptaka)
• przywiędnąć, stracić siły/ożywienie, oklapnąć
• chorągiew, chorągiewka, bandera
• puszysty ogon ( u niektórych psów myśliwskich)
• ozdabiać flagami
• sygnalizować chorągiewką
• wytyczać chorągiewkami

Prawda, że proste?
