A gdzie czarne porzeczki, agrest, jeżyny ? Czmu są morele, a nie ma brzoskwiń? W odchudzającą moc bananów też trudno mi uwierzyć.

New Amsterdam becomes New York
We wrześniu 1664 roku Holendrzy przekazali Anglikom miasto Nowy Amsterdam, który otrzymał wkrótce nazwę Nowy Jork na cześć księcia Yorku.

Dutch Governor Peter Stuyvesant surrenders New Amsterdam, the capital of New Netherland, to an English naval squadron under Colonel Richard Nicolls. Stuyvesant had hoped to resist the English, but he was an unpopular ruler, and his Dutch subjects refused to rally around him. Following its capture, New Amsterdam’s name was changed to New York, in honor of the Duke of York, who organized the mission.

Dutch baby.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEjwhVgzULA
Podobno bardzo smaczne. W niektórych przepisach znajdziecie słowo naleśnik (Dutch baby pancake), w innych Dutch baby German pancake, sugerujące, że potrawa pochodzi z Niemiec. Mamy więc nazwy dwóch krajów w przepisie.
Co na to wikipedia : A Dutch baby pancake, sometimes called a German pancake,[1] a Bismarck, or a Dutch puff, is an American baked pancake.....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEjwhVgzULA
Skąd się wzięłą taka dziwna nazwa:
Story has it that the name “Dutch Baby” was coined in a family-run restaurant in Seattle called Manca’s Cafe, owned by a gentleman named Victor Manca from about 1900 to the 1950s. A Manca descendant wrote that the name was coined because Victor’s daughter could not pronounce ‘Deutsch,’ the German word for German; and out of her mouth came Dutch and the deed was
done.

Upcycling.
Wszyscy wiedzą co to recycling, ale upcycling już niekoniecznie. A wypadałoby.

I know a lot of people who are interested in eco-living, and every time I mention upcycling they ask me: "What's upcycling?" My response: "It's taking something that you would otherwise throw out and finding a way to make it into something else."But then I started wondering where the term came from and if it was possibly a little more complicated than repurposing things. So I started digging, and this is what I found out about upcycling.http://naturallysavvy.com/live/what-is-upcycling
Recycling takes consumer materials — mostly plastic, paper, metal and glass — and breaks them down so their base materials can be remade into a new consumer product, often of lesser quality.
When you upcycle an item, you aren’t breaking down the materials. You may be refashioning it — like cutting a t-shirt into strips of yarn — but it’s still made of the same materials as when you started. Also, the upcycled item is typically better or the same quality as the original.https://hipcycle.com/what-is-upcycling
