Biskupin, Poland – The archaeological open air museum Biskupin is an archaeological site and a life-size model of an Iron Age fortified settlement in north-central (Wielkopolska) Poland (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship). When first discovered it was thought to be early evidence of Slavic settlement but archaeologists later confirmed it belonged to the Biskupin group of the Lusatian culture. The excavation and the reconstruction of the prehistoric settlement has played an instrumental part in Polish historical consciousness.
In 1933 Polish archaeologists discovered remains of a Bronze Age fort/settlement in Wielkopolska (Greater Poland), the discovery became famous overnight. The site was excavated from 1934 onwards by the team from Poznań University, led by archaeologists Józef Kostrzewski (1885–1969) and Zdzisław Rajewski (1907–1974). The first report was published in 1936. By the beginning of 1939, ca. 2,500 m2 (26,909.78 sq ft) had been excavated.

Retirement home for elderly animals.

W Belgii powstał dom spokojnej starości dla zwierząt.
In southern Belgium there is a care home that accommodates 150 aging animals, living out their final days in peace.

The animal shelter, located in rural Chievres in the province of Hainaut in the south of Belgium, is home to Pastis the pot-bellied pig,with a number of elderly cats, dogs, ponies and goats, photographed here by Yves Herman from Reuters.
All the animals either have health problems or have been given up because their owners were too old to care for them.
Residents include Azuria, a 15-year-old European cat, and Ramses, a nine-year-old Carlin dog.Valerie founded the shelter in 2000 with her husband Serge. She said: "We wanted to recreate family life for the animals."

Kacper Wrona, arrived at the college from Poland in the summer of 2017. Kacper not only had to contend with getting to grips with the English language but he also challenged himself with completing 3 A levels in one year. Kacper has performed exceptionally well, achieving an A* in Physics, an A in Chemistry and a B in Mathematics. According to Good Food Australia's Richard Cornish, the secret to the perfectly cooked fried egg is to put a lid on it while cooking.

'Frying delivers heat from the bottom of the pan and the fat stops the eggs from sticking while adding flavour,' he wrote.

By covering the eggs with a stainless steel lid while they sizzle, heat is reflected onto the food which cooks them from above.

Swimming is off limits on both sides of the Baltic, thanks to a major bloom of toxic algae triggered by the weather. People in Poland, Lithuania and Sweden have been advised not to enter affected waters.

Finnish environment institute SYKE said the outbreak is among the worst this decade.Scientists are thrilled, however - because the green gunk helps them study what bacteria are sensitive to, and it could help beat antibiotic resistance.

"It's a great opportunity to collect material [for research]. In recent years, we had trouble collecting enough," said Hanna Mazur-Marzec, a professor at the Polish Academy of Sciences' Oceanology Institute.

"Now we can simply fill up a bucket."
