Charles I was a king of England, Scotland and Ireland, whose conflicts with parliament and his subjects led to civil war and his execution.
Born in Fife, Scotland, on November 19, 1600, the second son born to James VI of Scotland and Anne of Denmark, Charles I ascended to the throne in 1625. His reign was marked by religious and political strife that led to civil war. The opposing force, led by Oliver Cromwell, defeated Charles's royalist forces and the king was beheaded in London, England, on January 30, 1649.

Czy znajomość pisania będzie jeszcze potrzebna? Do szkół już trafiają dzieci, które nie potrafią trzymać długopisu czy ołówka.

Sally Payne, head paediatric occupational therapist at the Heart of England foundation NHS Trust has seen evidence this is the case.She recently told the Guardian newspaper: "Children coming into school are being given a pencil but, increasingly, they are not able to hold it because they don't have the fundamental movement skills.

"To be able to grip a pencil and move it, you need strong control of the fine muscles in your fingers.

"Children need lots of opportunity to develop those skills," she added.

Ms Payne blamed the proliferation of tablets and smartphones in toddlers' lives for the children's inability to grip and hold a pencil.

"It's easier to give a child an iPad than encouraging them to do muscle-building play such as building blocks, cutting and sticking, or pulling toys and ropes," she said.

Kiedy byłam w trzeciej klasie szkoły podstawowej nasza pani oznajmiła, że będziemy się bawić w głuchy telefon. Powiedziała pierwszemu uczniowi do ucha : "Siedzi Jerzy na wieży i nie wierzy, że na wieży jest gniazdo jeży", a kiedy zdanie obiegło całą klasę ostatni uczeń usłyszał : "Siedzi miś na liściu i liści...". Bardzo nas to ubawiło.

Do zabawy często wykorzystuje się łamańce językowe ( tongue twisters).

Dlaczego szepty mają być chinskie? Nie znalazłam wyjaśnienia. Co ciekawe, wcześniej ta gra nazywała się Russian scandal. Zwolennicy poprawności politycznej zastanawiają sie, czy nazwa nie jest przypadkiem dla Chinczyków obraźliwa. Może więc lepiej używać " telephone game" lub "broken telephone".
