But with a bit of savvy planning you can more than halve the weight of your suitcase while still taking everything you need and leaving room for shopping and souvenirs.
Using two 3.5kg (8lb)cases, Tanith Carey reduced her luggage for a two-week holiday from 21kg (3st 4lb) to 7kg (1st 1lb).
