• A supermoon appears when the moon and Earth are at their closest point.
  
• The moon appears to be 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter in the sky
• The best time to see will be at 08:45 GMT (03:45 EST) on December 4
• At this point the moon will be 222,135 miles (357,492 kilometres) from Earth.
