16 września 1927 roku w Nowym Jorku przyszedł na świat amerykański aktor Peter Michael Falk,
Pochodził z żydowskiej rodziny, a jego przodkowie ze strony ojca wywodzili się z Polski.
Peter Falk zasłynął rolą porucznika w liczącym kilkadziesiąt odcinków serialu Columbo, emitowanym w USA w latach 1968-78 i 1989 -2003. Polscy widzowie poznali go w latach 70-tych. Peter Falk był dwukrotnie nominowany do Oscara ( 1960 - za rolę w filmie Murder, Inc  i w 1961 za rolę w Arystokracji podziemi).
 Rola porucznika Columbo przyniosła mu 4 nagrody Emmy ( nominowano go 10-krotnie) oraz nagrodę Złotego Globu.

Teenagers and e-cigarettes

Teenagers using e-cigarettes are four times as likely to progress to take up smoking traditional cigarettes within a year, experts have warned.

Past studies have supported the theory that the devices may help smokers reduce their use of traditional tobacco products.

But a new piece of research offers evidence in favour of the opposite side of the debate.

The study found that e-cigarettes are encouraging non-smokers, specifically young people, to take up the traditional habit.

Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine analysed data from surveys completed by 694 participants aged 16 to 26.

None of the young people included had smoked cigarettes, and they were deemed to be non-susceptible to smoking cigarettes.

Amadeus

6 września 1984 odbyła się premiera filmu biograficznego o życiu Wolfganga Amadeusza Mozarta pod tytułem Amadeusz (ang. AMADEUS) w reżyserii Milosa Formana.
