Love and a cough...

Miłość i kaszel zataić trudno....

"As it has been said:
Love and a cough
cannot be concealed.
Even a small cough.
Even a small love.”
- Anne Sexton - an American poet   (1928-1974)

History of heels.

Historia obcasów sięga kilku tysięcy lat...

Ancient Greeks wearing platforms, 15th-century shoes 30 INCHES high and Carrie Bradshaw's Manolo Blahniks: The 5,000-year history of heels revealed

Argentinian origami.

From foxes and birds to humpback whales and tigers, these are the incredible model animals created entirely by origami.
Argentine artists Juan Elizade, 31 and 27-year-old Carolina Silvero from Buenos Aires say they have devoted their lives into making the animals using the art of folding paper.
The couple design their creations on computer before cutting and folding them into creatures such as bears, birds and even a 3D park scene.

Auschwitz 70th anniversary

Oto relacja BBC z uroczystości wyzwolenia obozu w Auschwitz:
About 300 Auschwitz survivors have gathered at the site of the former Nazi death camp to mark the 70th anniversary of its liberation.
The commemoration will be held at the site in southern Poland where 1.1 million people, the vast majority Jews, were killed between 1940 and 1945.
It is expected to be the last major anniversary event that survivors are able to attend in considerable numbers.
Heads of state and representatives from wartime Allies will also be present.
Events include the laying of a wreath, a church service, and the lighting of candles at a memorial in the former death camp of Birkenau, which was part of the Auschwitz complex.

Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated by the Red Army of the Soviet Union on 27 January 1945. It opened as a museum in 1947.

The richest women in the world.

(CNN)There are 2,325 billionaires in the world, according to the Wealth-X and UBS Billionaire Census 2014, and just over 12% of them are women.
With a combined wealth of $930 billion, the world's richest females are making their mark on the global economy -- and their fortunes are only expected to improve in 2015.
Of the 286 female billionaires identified, only 17% have self-made fortunes.
The U.S. is currently home to the highest number of self-made female billionaires -- but future billionaires creating their own fortunes are predicted to come primarily from emerging markets.

Walking the cabbage.

Dlaczego? Postanowiłam znaleźć informacje na ten temat.
According to the artist, his intention in making art is for 'people to see how much of our daily lives are routines that we've blindly absorbed'. And in this work, Han does just that through his subtle manipulation of hackneyed imagery which raises important questions about contemporary Chinese social norms.

Is GUM better than flossing?

Jednak żucie gumy dłużej niż 10 minut uwalnia bakterie z powrotem do jamy ustnej.
Is GUM better than flossing? 10 minutes of chewing can remove 100 MILLION bacteria from your mouth, study claims.
  • Researchers at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands studied the effectiveness of chewing gum
  • They found in 10 minutes it removed 100 million bacteria from the mouth
  • But if chewed for a long time it could release bacteria back into the gums
  • It can be as effective as flossing, they say - although each targets different areas of the mouth
  • They hope their research could be used to make specialist chewing gum to absorb specific disease-related bacteria.

George Gordon Byron ( 1788 - 1824)

On January 21, 1821, the day before his 33rd birthday, Byron wrote in his diary:
Through life's road, so dim and dirty,

I have dragg'd to three and thirty.
What have these years left to me?
Nothing – except, thirty-three.
Do lat dobrnąłem trzydziestu i trzech.
I cóż wędrówka ta przyniosła mi?
Nic - tylko lat tych trzydzieści i trzy.

Do you miss winter?

Tęsknicie za zimą? Ja nie tęsknię ale jeśli ktos odczuwa jej brak - niech leci do Wielkiej Brytanii.
Parts of Britain experienced its coldest temperatures for three years last night as forecasters warn another blast if snow is set to hit this evening.
Temperatures dipped to at minus 13.7C at Loch Glascarnoch in the Highlands overnight,  Britain’s coldest temperature since the mercury sunk to minus 15.6C  at Holbeach, Lincolnshire in February 2012.
Met Office forecasters have issued a severe weather warning for the Midlands and further north as at least 5 cm of snow is expected to hit overnight tonight.
But some respite is in sight, as warmer temperatures and more settled weather is expected for this weekend - with some areas even reaching double figures.
